  • The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) invites scientists to help shape the programme of The EMBO Meeting 2011 in Vienna.   • The Yggdrasil mobility programme offers funding for international Ph.D. students and younger researchers for research stays in Norway. The mobility programme encompasses all subjects and disciplines and takes its name from Yggdrasil, the immense ash tree from Norse mythology whose branches extend throughout the world and into the heavens. Grant applications will be accepted from the following countries: European countries (all countries, including all Council of Europe member states, except for the Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Sweden); non-European countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Egypt, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico and South Africa. The Yggdrasil mobility programme is targeted at younger researchers, defined as: those admitted to organised Ph.D. programmes; those who have completed a Ph.D. degree not more than six years prior to submission of the grant application and are affiliated with a higher education and/or research institution. Applicants must secure a letter of invitation from the host institution in Norway. The invitation letter must contain a brief plan for the research stay (research activity, any seminars, courses, etc.) as well as specify the time period of the stay and any facilities that will be made available to the grant recipient. Euromime is a European Master in Media Engineering for Education. Proiectul îşi propune să dezvolte o reţea de formare specializată în domeniul cunoscut de mulţi ani în cercetarea lingvistică aplicată sub denumirea de intercompréhension des langues romanes, limbi între care, pînă în prezent, româna era ignorată ca referinţă. Obiectivul este acela de a crea şi de a experimenta, cu ajutorul unei platforme numerice, scenarii colaborative de formare centrate pe sarcini capabile să răspundă nevoilor şi aşteptărilor (în termeni de competenţe profesionale şi profil lingvistic şi comunicativ) diverselor categorii de public ţintă. Pe termen lung, proiectul vizează acumulări conceptuale şi practice (glosare plurilingve, publicaţii, bază de date) transferabile către alte familii de limbi şi către alte discipline.   • A cluster of scientific events spanning complexity science will be organized in Jerusalem between 10-19 September 2008. The Central events are the 5th European Conference on Complex Systems (ECCS September 14-19) and the 4th European Complexity PhD School (September 10-14).   • For the academic year 2008/2009 Università degli Studi di Padova, Italy, offers 15 research fellowships for foreign students to attend Doctoral Schools/International Courses. The announcement concernes a limited number of fully funded grants for foreign (non-Italian) graduate students to be awarded on the basis of qualifications only and requiring no entry examination.   • The 6th Bavarian Summer Academy "German as a foreign language" for university lecturers, which will take place at the University of Regensburg from 13th to 25th of July 2008. The Academy explicitly caters to lectures of German Language from universities. This year's focus is "Pop culture and its Impact on Contemporary German" ("Popkultur und ihr Einfluss auf das Gegenwartsdeutsch"). There is a scholarship program for participants from Eastern, Central and Southeastern Europe. The scholarship covers tuition fees and accommodation. On a case basis travel expenses can be covered.   • The Latin Language and Classical Culture Summer School, organised by the Department of Classical and Medieval Philology and the Department of International Relations of Bologna University, will offer courses focused both on language (at different levels) and on literature, with the aim of enabling pupils to read some of the fundamental texts of our cultural tradition. Further classes will touch on moments of Roman history and the history of art, supplemented by visits to museums and archaeological sites (especially in Rome). The course will be held in Bologna from 16 June to 4 July 2008. On the basis of their previous knowledge of the Latin language, the participants will be divided into classes of different levels (beginners and intermediate).   • ATHGO International will be hosting the Third Annual Global Forum “Bridging the Development Gap: Sustainable Growth in Information and Communication Technologies and Hi-tech through Education” at the American University of Armenia, from November 20 – 23, 2007 and would like to offer three Alexandru Ioan Cuza university students to a discounted registration fee of 90 EUR (normally 150 EUR) through October 31, 2007.
