SUMMARY:The 3rd NanoArt International Festival
DESCRIPTION:The 3rd NanoArt International Festival will be hosted in Iasi\, Romania by Alexandru Ioan Cuza University\, between September 22 – 28\, 2014\, in parallel with the 10th International Conference on Physics of Advanced Materials. \n 19 artists from 7 countries (Brazil\, Germany\, Mexico\, Romania\, Russia\, Slovenia\, U.S.A.) will show about 60 works in print and multimedia. The previous editions of the festival were held in Finland and Germany. The molecular and atomic landscapes of various materials with features measured in nanometers became a strong topic for exhibitions hosted in recent years by different universities and organizations. \n The exhibition is curated by artist and scientist Cris Orfescu\, researcher in the field of nanomaterials for energy\, founder of NanoArt 21 and artist and scientist Mirela Suchea\, PhD\, researcher in the field of nanostructured materials synthesis. \n Also\, there are several online competitions dedicated to this new artistic-scientific discipline. NanoArt 21 will launch at the end of this year the 7th edition of the oldest online competition. \n “NanoArt is a new art discipline at the art-science-technology intersections. It features nanolandscapes (molecular and atomic landscapes which are natural structures of matter at molecular and atomic scales) and nanosculptures (structures created by scientists and artists by manipulating matter at molecular and atomic scales using chemical and physical processes. These structures are visualized with research tools like scanning electron microscopes and atomic force microscopes and their scientific images are captured and further processed by using different artistic techniques to convert them into artworks showcased for large audiences”(NanoArt 21) \nNanoArt could be for the 21st Century what Photography was for the 20th Century. Micro and nano worlds are aesthetically sound and offer infinite artistic exploration possibilities. \n  \n \n  \n \n  \n \n

SUMMARY:10th International Conference on Physics of Advanced Materials (ICPAM-10) and the 1st Autumn School on Physics of Advanced Materials (PAMS-1)
DESCRIPTION:In September 22-28\, 2014\, the Faculty of Physics and the Interdisciplinary Research Department – Field Science fromAlexandruIoanCuza University of Iasi\,with other twenty prestigious institutions from Romania\, France\, Switzerland\, Russia\, United Kingdom\, Hungary\, Portugal\, Netherlands\, Ukraine\, Greece\, Japan\, Turkey\, United States of America\, organizethe 10th International Conference on Physics of Advanced Materials (ICPAM-10) and the 1st Autumn School on Physics of Advanced Materials (PAMS-1). \nICPAM-10 is intended to be a forum of physicists\, chemists\, material scientists\, physicians\, engineers and artists for discussion and exchange of ideas and results\, both in fundamental and applied research of advanced materials and will consist of invited and contributed papers during plenary\, oral and poster sessions. \nPAMS-1 isfocused on bothfundamental information and on the current research activities in order to provide to young researchers\, PhD students\, and postdocs an interdisciplinary expert training. \nThe two-related satellite events: The 3rd International Festival of NanoArt and 1st Art and Science Photography Exposition and Workshop Iasi 2014 are devoted to discover science in a new view and talented scientists have the opportunity to present their contributions. \nThere will be awards for best poster and best oral presentations\, a special category for the best student paper and other surprise prizes.Social events will provide opportunities for all participants to actively engage discussions and establish future collaborations. \nBased on the success of ICPAM-9\, we are strongly confident that ICPAM-10\, PAMS-1 and the satellite events will exceed our expectations. \n \n\n
