Casa de Cultură a Studenților din Iași sărbătorește 63 ani de la înființare
Încă de la apariția ei, Casa de Cultură a Studenților din Iași a devenit un adevărat reper în viața culturală și spirituală a Iașului și apoi a țării, reușind să transforme într-un punct de referință, și reper de atracție pentru toți care îi pășesc pragul.
Anii de studenție pentru cei care au făcut sau fac parte din formațiile ce activează aici, le-au rămas un punct nodal, un adevărat reper, în memorie.
La Casa de Cultură a Studenților și-au început activitatea, participând ca învățăcei la cursurile organizate și îndrumate de specialiști, personalități din cultura ieșeană, devenite repere ale românilor.
Principiile Casei de Cultură a Studenților Iași
Profesionalism, continuitate și consecvență, acestea au fost și sunt principiile după care se desfășoară întreaga activitate din această instituție, pentru studenții care găsesc aici o oază de liniște, de formare și de informare.
„Chiar dacă e o perioadă dificilă pentru noi toți, încercăm să fim alături de publicul nostru prin evenimente culturale, care vor putea fi urmărite online. Așa cum ne-am obișnuit ieșenii vom organiza o serie de manifestări care vor evidenția munca depusă de studenți prin intermediul momentelor artistice. ”, a consemnat Bogdan Crucianu, directorul Casei de Cultură a Studenților Iași.
Până pe 5 noiembrie 2020 au loc „Zilele Casei de Cultură a Studenților“. În această perioadă v-am pregătit o serie de manifestări culturale-artistice ce vor avea scopul de a evidenția rolul pe care instituția noastră l-a avut și îl are în mediul studențesc.
Zilnic, până pe 5 noiembrie, în intervalul orar 17:00-20:00 așteptăm tinerii în Iulius Mall la „Zilele Bobocului Ieșean”. Activitatea desfășurată la „Zilele Bobocului Ieșean” oferă posibilitatea tinerilor să afle despre activitățile pe care le desfășurăm la Casa de Cultură a Studenților. Reprezentanții de la cluburile noastre vor realiza ateliere demonstrative cu cei care vor trece pe la standul „CCS”.
Momente artistice prezentate pe 4 noiembrie 2020
Pe 4 noiembrie 2020, trupele Casei de Cultură a Studenților din Iași și partenerii Academia Models și Hometown Dance vor prezenta mai multe momente artistice, într-un spectacol intitulat „Behind the door”. Premiera surprinde momente, obiceiuri și amintiri petrecute în spatele ușilor cluburilor artistice.
Pe 5 noiembrie 2020, de la ora 18:00 vă invităm să urmăriți online pe pagina de Facebook a Casei de Clultură a Studenților Iași, expoziția portret realizată de membrii clubului de arte vizuale „ConceptArt”. „Light Rembrandt”are ca temă iluminarea portretului în stilul Rembrandt. Acest stil reproduce în fotografie modul în care celebrul pictor a redat lumina în multe dintre portretele sale și se caracterizează prin triunghiul luminos care se formează sub ochiul subiectului, pe partea mai puțin luminată a feței. Expozanţii sunt: Daniel Moisii, Gabriel Popa, Adrian Arpinte, Sebastian Bîrzu, Bogdan Cîmpan, Casian Mitu, Marius Enache, Paul Adrian Băhnăreanu, Ana Teodora Busuioc.

Un examen important pentru toată ţara, în condiţiile în care pandemia cere mai multe cadre
2.100 de absolvenţi ieşeni s-au înscris la rezidenţiat
Absolvenţii Universităţii de Medicină şi Farmacie „Grigore T. Popa” se pregătesc să susţină un examen de rezidenţiat cu mize mult mai mari anul acesta, spitalele aflate în prima linie în lupta împotriva noului coronavirus având nevoie urgentă de ajutoare. În total sunt 2.100 de absolvenţi ai UMF Iaşi care s-au înscris la examenul ce urmează să aibă loc pe 15 noiembrie. Dacă numărul candidaţilor pentru domeniul Medicină este acelaşi ca cel de anul trecut - 1.087, a crescut de trei ori numărul candidaţilor la Farmacie - 360 faţă de 127 anul trecut, şi s-a dublat la Medicină Dentară, 668 faţă de 314.
Concursul se va desfăşura după tipicul gata implementat: se dă simultan în cele şase centre mari universitare: Bucureşti, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Iaşi, Târgu Mureş şi Timişoara, fiind vorba de o examinare de 4 ore sub formă de test-grilă cu 200 de întrebări. Repartizarea candidaţilor pe săli se face diferenţiat, pe domeniile pentru care s-au înscris, de către fiecare universitate de profil. La data de 12 noiembrie, candidaţii pot afla sala şi ora începerii probei de concurs vizitând pagina de internet a UMF Iaşi sau siteul realizat de minister pentru rezidenţiat.
În total, anul acesta sunt scoase la concurs de către Ministerul Sănătăţii 7.061 de locuri şi posturi la concurs, cu peste 2.300 mai multe faţă de anul trecut, 4.518 pe modicină, 1.219 pe medicină dentară şi farmacie şi 105 locuri pentru ministerele cu reţea sanitară proprie - MApN, Ministerul Justiţiei şi MAI. „Este un an atipic din cauza epidemiei, cu multe provocări atât pentru cadrele didactice, cât şi pentru studenţi, dar am încercat să găsim de fiecare dată cele mai bune soluţii ca procesul educaţional să nu fie foarte afectat. După organizarea reuşită a concursului de admitere din vară, vom avea grijă ca şi concursul de intrare în rezidenţiat să se desfăşoare în condiţii de confort şi siguranţă optime: se vor lua măsuri igienico-sanitare pentru protejarea candidaţilor, dar şi a personalului implicat în organizare, şi vom aloca un număr mai mare de săli şi amfiteatre, cu ajutorul celorlalte universităţi ieşene”, a declarat prof.dr. Viorel Scripcariu, rectorul UMF Iaşi. Pe ţară, clasamentul în funcţie de numărul de înscrişi poziţionează Bucureştiul pe primul loc, cu 4.376 de candidaţi, urmat de Iaşi, cu 2.115 candidaţi şi de Cluj, cu 1.637 de candidaţi. Numărul total de înscrişi din toate cele şase centre universitare este 11.948

Students defy guidance and race home before lockdown in England
NUS has called on government to give advice on how students can leave university safely
Students are defying government guidance that they should stay at university throughout lockdown to make a last-minute dash home before the new restrictions kick in across England on Thursday.
The universities minister, Michelle Donelan, has written to students urging them to stay put.
After a challenging first term, during which thousands of students have already had to lock down and self-isolate as a result of Covid outbreaks, many have decided to leave campus.
With continuing uncertainty about what might happen over Christmas and the majority of learning now online, they plan to continue their studies at home during lockdown without fear of being trapped at university over the holiday.
Donelan’s letter, however, stated: “You should not leave your term-time address to return to your parents or carers’ home until at least 2 December and should continue to learn at university for the remainder of this term.
“The reason we are asking you to remain at your university and not to travel home before the new restrictions come into place on Thursday is to prevent any further spread of Covid-19. Any movement around the country will risk the lives of our loved ones.
“I know and appreciate that a number of you may want to be back with your family during this difficult time, but I urge you to stay where you are in order to save lives.”
One mother of a first-year student agreed with the government that it was best for students was to remain on campus, but said: “I am already hearing that some students have left uni halls over the weekend to travel home and more are planning to ‘escape’ by the end of 4 November, including my son who is adamant he is coming home. He said, ‘I’m coming home, Mum. I’m not staying here on my own. Everyone’s going’.”
Lockdown discussions were also under way on the Student Room online forum. One participant who has decided to go home said: “Even before the lockdown was announced my entire course was pretty much all online – only five in-person sessions over the 10 weeks of term – so I’m not missing out on anything academically. Socially, there are no in-person society events either. So this year sucks.”
Others who have already left for reading week are not planning to return.
Larissa Kennedy, the president of the National Union of Students said: “If I were at university right now, I would not be staying. It’s not feasible for students, many of whom have already been in lockdown for weeks, to continue to be completely isolated over the next month. It could potentially be longer than that. Does that then roll into the end of term and into Christmas?
“Mental health is my key concern. We have already lost one member of the student community to anxiety around lockdown,” she said, referring to the death last month of 19-year-old Finn Kitson, a student at Manchester University.
The government recommended before lockdown that students should stay at university and not travel home, but it has not been made a legal requirement. The lockdown guidance published by the Department for Education on Tuesday says students must stay at their university address for the duration and will only be able to go out for the same specific reasons as the rest of the population.
The NUS, however, has called on the government to provide guidance on how students can leave university safely, both now and at the end of term. The government has said it is committed to getting students home for Christmas but is still to publish details.
In a separate letter to vice-chancellors, Donelan said she wanted all students to have some form of face-to-face learning. It follows earlier guidance from the Cabinet Office that universities “should consider moving to increased levels of online learning where possible” during the four-week lockdown.

University of London cleaners win 10-year outsourcing battle
Staff to be recognised as direct employees after precarious contracts with Balfour Beatty and OCS
Outsourced cleaners at the University of London are celebrating victory in a 10-year battle to be recognised as staff, which involved strikes, and a boycott of the university’s Senate House complex supported by academics and politicians.
Since the start of this week the cleaners, who previously worked under contracts for outsourcing firms including OCS, Balfour Beatty and most recently Cordant, have been working as directly employed staff. The Independent Workers of Great Britain trade union which led the campaign said it was an achievement that had cost a lot in terms of stress and energy for the workers since they started to organise in 2010.
It follows the insourcing of porters, receptionists, post room and audio visual technicians by the university administration earlier this year. The University and College Union which represents 120,000 academics and support staff was among the organisations joining the boycott. It is the latest victory for the IWGB union which has emerged in recent years to represent precarious workers on short contracts and in gig jobs, who are not normally unionised. It has also challenged the business models of Uber, Deliveroo and other courier companies.
“I am very proud of our achievement,” said Henry Chango Lopez, IWGB president who was a cleaner at the University of London in 2010 when they started to organise in response to problems with remunerations and disrupted dismissals. “We fought so hard and for so many years. My father still works there as a porter. This has been a lot of stress to all of us involved. We had to stay strong and remain united and that has been a long process that has cost a lot of energy.”

The campaign’s original aims of winning sick pay, paid holiday and pensions – known as the Tres Cosas [three things] in Spanish because most of the workers came from Latin America – was later extended to achieving full staff status.
“Outsourcing is one of the biggest problems in society, and we fought outsourcing on a daily basis,” Lopez said.
Wendy Thompson, the vice-chancellor of the University of London, said in an email to staff last month that the “strength of feeling” about the issue among colleagues, and the impact of the boycott helped shape her decision to press ahead with insourcing.
“One of my first acts as vice-chancellor was to recommend that the university bring its cleaning and reception staff in-house,” she said in a statement on Tuesday. “I did this because I believed it was the right thing to do. The Trustees approved my recommendation, one which was supported by many in the university community.”
The breakthrough for IWGB comes as Lopez bids to become the next general secretary of the union after its founding leader, Jason Moyer-Lee, announced last month that he was standing down at the end of this week.

En France, les antennes des universités américaines désertées
Ces structures, habituées à recevoir des étudiants américains dans des programmes de « study abroad » (séjours d’études à l’étranger), tournent presque à vide.
L’année a des allures de crash-test pour la soixantaine d’établissements d’enseignement supérieur publics et privés américains qui opèrent en France, alors que nombre d’universités ont suspendu leurs programmes de « study abroad » (séjours d’études à l’étranger). « La rentrée a été très difficile. Un tout petit nombre de programmes de mobilité ont pu accueillir des étudiants américains. De très nombreuses structures tiennent grâce au système de soutien économique mis en place par l’État français », résume Carol Huber, la secrétaire générale de l’Association des programmes universitaires américains en France, elle-même enseignante à Montpellier pour le compte de l’université publique de Caroline du Nord.
Selon les chiffres du Quai d’Orsay, le nombre de visas accordés à des Américains pour étudier en France a chuté de 70 % entre 2019 et 2020, sur la période allant de janvier à octobre. En temps normal, d’après les données de l’Institute of International Education, les universités américaines envoient 17 000 étudiants en échange universitaire en France chaque année, que cela soit dans des établissements français ou dans leurs antennes délocalisées.
« Go local », proclame désormais New York University (NYU) sur son site web. Depuis le début de l’année, son antenne du boulevard Saint-Germain, à Paris, l’un des 14 centres universitaires mondiaux de l’université de Greenwich Village, est quasi déserte. « On a cette année dix fois moins d’étudiants, et ceux qui sont là sont pour l’essentiel des Européens et des Américains binationaux, ou qui étaient déjà présents à Paris », précise Alfred Galichon, directeur de NYU Paris. Le campus, qui accueille chaque année 350 étudiants, appliquait jusqu’à la semaine dernière les consignes strictes imposées par la maison mère new-yorkaise : 2 mètres entre chaque étudiant, questionnaire santé à remplir chaque jour, prise de température à l’entrée, pas plus d’une personne dans l’ascenseur… Désormais, les cours ont totalement basculé à distance.
Programmes annulés
L’antenne parisienne de Columbia, à deux pas de Montparnasse, assurait déjà ses cours en ligne depuis la rentrée. Avant le deuxième confinement, le site accueillait les étudiants résidant à Paris et qui souhaitaient « avoir un espace de travail », dit Brunhilde Biebuyck, sa directrice. Soit, « pour l’instant, une cinquantaine d’étudiants » – contre 600 par an en rythme de croisière. « Tous les programmes de “study abroad” ont été annulés par les universités américaines qui nous envoient normalement leurs étudiants », constate la directrice, qui pense « qu’un grand nombre de ces programmes » seront également annulés au semestre de printemps.

Le Covid-19 plonge les universités américaines en pleine « crise existentielle »
Baisse des inscriptions, perte d’attractivité à l’international, chute brutale de leurs ressources, licenciements… avec la pandémie, même les plus prestigieux établissements, piliers du « soft power » américain, sont en difficulté.
Certains étudiants ont reçu un kit de tests Covid avant la rentrée, d’autres ont dû rester cloîtrés deux semaines dans leur chambre avant de pouvoir assister aux premiers cours. Tous ont été incités, souvent en vain, à éviter les soirées ou les rassemblements dans les dorms (« résidences »). Et ceux-là sont parmi les plus chanceux. Cet automne, moins d’un tiers des campus américains ont fait le pari de l’enseignement en présentiel. La rentrée universitaire s’y est souvent révélée chaotique, alternant ouverture et fermeture en fonction du nombre d’étudiants contaminés par le coronavirus.
Pour la majorité des étudiants, privés de la vie communautaire typique des campus américains, le semestre d’automne se déroule donc à distance, sans accès aux laboratoires, aux bibliothèques ou aux activités sportives. Une poignée de jeunes Américains ont tenté d’échapper à cette situation en partant étudier à l’étranger, à l’instar de ces étudiants de l’université Johns-Hopkins qui ont rallié le campus italien de la prestigieuse université à Bologne, où les cours, pour l’instant, sont assurés en présentiel.
Dans ce contexte incertain, beaucoup craignaient un effondrement des inscriptions dans les quelque 3 000 universités américaines, qui comptent chaque année près de 20 millions d’étudiants. La baisse, réelle, est moins prononcée que prévu. Selon les dernières données du National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, le nombre d’étudiants, tous niveaux confondus, a baissé de 3 % entre 2019 et 2020. Mais la crise touche de plein fouet les étudiants en première année, dont les inscriptions chutent de 16 %.
Désaffection des « community colleges »
Les effets à long terme de ces tendances sur le niveau éducatif du pays et les changements durables dans les méthodes d’apprentissage sont pour l’instant difficiles à évaluer. Mais ils amènent les responsables d’université à s’interroger sur leur modèle économique. « L’enseignement supérieur américain traverse une crise existentielle », estime l’American Council on Education (ACE), qui rassemble les acteurs de l’enseignement supérieur, dans une lettre envoyée le 19 octobre aux élus du Congrès.
Les universités, déjà affectées ces dernières années par une baisse des effectifs et une diminution des financements publics, ne sont pas toutes touchées de la même manière. Les community colleges, ces établissements de proximité non sélectifs et bien moins chers que les universités, enregistrent la plus forte désaffection, avec une baisse globale des effectifs de 9 %, un chiffre qui monte à 23 % pour les inscriptions en première année. « Cette tendance est préoccupante, car, en temps de crise, les community colleges sont généralement ceux qui s’en sortent le mieux, relève Sarah Spreitzer, l’une des directrices de l’ACE. Nous espérons que les jeunes prennent une année sabbatique, et qu’ils reviendront l’an prochain. »
