Conf. univ. dr. Constantin-Iulian Damian de la Facultatea de Teologie Ortodoxă „Dumitru Staniloaie” este unul dintre cei mai apreciaţi şi valoroşi membri ai comunităţii academice teologice din cadrul celei mai vechi universităţi moderne a României dar şi pe plan naţional. Directorul Departamentului de Teologie Ortodoxă, acesta preda şi este specialist la disciplinele Istoria şi filosofia religiilor, Teologie fundamentală, misiologie și ecumenism, Teologie dogmatică și simbolică.
Din 2015 prezent este membru fondator al Centrului de Studii și Dialog Interreligios și Intercultural din cadrul Universității din Bucureşti (UB).

„Studenții de la specializările «Tehnologia prelucrării produselor agricole», Protecția consumatorului și a mediului, Exploatarea mașinilor și instalațiilor pentru agricultură și industria alimentară au participat, pe faze de lucru, la realizarea primei tranșe de bere cu ghimbir din atelierul nostru de microproducție. Am parcurs toate etapele, inclusiv analiza senzorială, iar reacțiile au fost mult peste așteptările noastre”, a transmis ing. dr. Vasile Dobre, responsabil în cadrul atelierului de microproducție bere al USAMV Iași.
În cadrul testărilor finale sunt apreciate calitatea spumei, timpul de spargere a acesteia, culoarea, aroma, prezența bioxidului de carbon, iar studenții care au participat la testare, inclusiv la degustare în cadrul laboratoarelor de analiză senzorială, sunt încântați de produsul obținut.

„În primul rând, aș putea spune că este printre cele mai frumoase și interesante aspecte ale studenției mele, acesta al testării și al aprecierii produselor noastre. În ceea ce privește berea noastră cu ghimbir, pe care am degustat-o în practică, aș putea spune că mi-a plăcut, însă mai degrabă pot spune că sunt fidelă berii clasice, nu celei cu arome. Este foarte interesant să vezi cum se fabrică berea, să vezi tot fluxul tehnologic până la produsul finit, suntem foarte norocoși că avem parte de astfel de experiențe la facultatea noastră”, a spus Iulia Sincu, studentă în anul II la Facultatea de Agricultură, specializarea Tehnologia prelucrării produselor agricole.
Centru pentru valorificarea microproducției agricole și veterinare, respectiv de produse tradiționale, la USAMV Iași
De completat că USAMV Iași va deschide și un Centru pentru valorificarea microproducției agricole și veterinare, respectiv de produse tradiționale. Astfel, de la magazinul alimentar cu produse proprii vor putea fi achiziționate diverse alimente ce provin din fermele Universității, din atelierele de micro-producție. În urma activităților desfășurate în fermele și atelierele de micro-producție ale facultăților de Agricultură, Horticultură, Zootehnie și Medicina Veterinară, studenții și cadrele didactice obțin diverse produse, cum ar fi preparate din carne, lactate, produse de panificație, legume, fructe, vin, dar și răsaduri, puieți sau viță-de-vie. Toate aceste produse tradiționale „made by USAMV Iași” vor fi comercializate la acest magazin alimentar care va fi deschis chiar în campusul Universității de Agronomie Iași, din Dealul Copoului.

Students in England to get notice of exam topics after Covid disruption
Exam aids will be allowed and there will be contingency papers for pupils who have to miss exams
Pupils in England sitting GCSEs and A-levels next summer will be given advance notice of topics and allowed to take in exam aids including formula sheets, as part of a package of measures to mitigate for learning disruption caused by the pandemic.
After months of uncertainty for pupils and their teachers, the government’s long-awaited announcement on the 2021 exam series promises that students will be awarded more generous grades, in line with last summer’s significantly improved results.
And in case of ongoing disruption during the exam period, contingency papers in each subject will be available for pupils who have to miss exams for Covid-related reasons, to sit in July. Teacher-informed assessment will be relied upon only in the most extreme cases.
Headteachers and teaching unions welcomed the announcement but said it had come far too late, and many expressed continuing concern about wide disparities in learning within the cohort. Last week one in five secondary pupils were absent from school for Covid-related reasons.
The Department for Education (DfE) is establishing an advisory group to look more closely at differential learning experiences and the variation in the impact of the Covid pandemic on pupils across the country. Ministers are hoping that the new measures will be of greatest benefit to those who have suffered most.
Unveiling the measures, the education secretary, Gavin Williamson, insisted exams remained the best way of giving young people the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned. He acknowledged, however, that it was not business as usual.
“I know students are facing unprecedented disruption to their learning. That’s why exams will be different next year, taking exceptional steps to ensure they are as fair as possible,” he said. “I am determined to support students, parents and teachers in these unprecedented times and hope measures like more generous grading and advance notice of some topic areas will give young people the clarity and confidence they need to achieve every success.”
Details of exam topics will be released in January to enable teachers to make best use of limited teaching time and focus pupils’ revision. Modern languages students will be able to take in vocabulary sheets to reduce the amount of material that needs to be memorised, but English literature texts will not be allowed. Vocational and technical qualifications will be adapted to ensure parity, the DfE said.
Williamson is under pressure to avoid any repeat of the results fiasco this summer, when exams were cancelled and standardised grades were abandoned in favour of school-assessed grades after concerns were raised about fairness.
The government has already announced that next year’s exams will take place three weeks later than normal, to maximise teaching time. Existing “special consideration” measures will be expanded to cater for potential Covid disruption, so if students miss a single paper due to self-isolation or sickness, a grade will be calculated based on the proportion of the qualification they have already sat. Clinically extremely vulnerable pupils will be allowed to sit exams at home, with invigilation.
To further relieve pressure on schools, the government also announced that graded Ofsted inspections would be further suspended until after Easter, with just monitoring inspections continuing in settings graded inadequate or “requires improvement”.
In primary schools, key stage 1 tests for seven-year-olds will be replaced by teacher assessment for a year. Key stage 2 tests in the final year of primary will go ahead, with some flexibility over timing, apart from the English grammar, punctuation and spelling test. The government also confirmed that test and exam results would not be included in performance tables this year.
Paul Whiteman, the general secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers, welcomed the reduction of some of the burden on schools. “Whilst the government has not gone as far as we would have liked, they have moved significantly towards the profession,” he said.
Geoff Barton, the general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, said: “It is not perfect – nothing can be given the fact that learning has been so disrupted by coronavirus and that pupils have been affected to vastly different extents. But various options have been discussed exhaustively and, frankly, schools and colleges just need a decision.”

Staggered return planned for university students in England after Christmas
Studies will continue online for many over five-week period to minimise risk of Covid transmission
Students in England will be asked to stay at home after Christmas and continue their studies online at the start of the new year as part of a staggered return to university to minimise the risk of Covid transmission.
The government wants students to stagger their journeys back to campus over a five-week period beginning on 4 January 2021, with everyone expected to be back at university by 7 February, and coronavirus tests available to all returning students.
New guidance says medical students and those on practical courses requiring face-to-face teaching will be prioritised for an early return. Other courses should be made available online from the beginning of term until students are able to return safely.
Announcing the plans, the universities minister, Michelle Donelan, said: “The health and wellbeing of students, staff and local communities is always our primary concern and this plan will enable a safer return for all students.
“But we must do this in a way which minimises the risk of transmission. I know students have had to make sacrifices this year and have faced a number of challenges, but this staggered return will help to protect students, staff and communities.”
Universities have also been advised to prioritise students who may need to return to campus earlier because they do not have access to accommodation or study space, or because of mental health reasons, and the government announced a one-off fund of up to £20m to help those in exceptional need.
The announcement comes as a six-day travel window allowing students to leave university and travel home for Christmas gets under way on Thursday, with mass testing going on in 126 universities to help prevent the spread of Covid.
Many students have expressed frustration with their experience at university this term, with the bulk of studies online, social activities curtailed because of Covid restrictions, long periods of self-isolation and harsh penalties for breaches.
The University and College Union, which represents university staff, welcomed the move to online learning at the start of the new year. UCU general secretary Jo Grady said: “This is a step forward, but plans for next term still pose a risk to staff and student safety. Universities must work with the government to support students who decide the reality of life on campus during this pandemic isn’t for them, including releasing them from accommodation contracts.”
The guidance says students should travel back to university by private transport where possible and avoid car sharing.
Students will be advised to have two lateral flow tests three days apart on their return to campus, with results turned within around an hour. If they are positive, they will be asked to self-isolate in their university accommodation. Those who spent Christmas in a tier 3 zone where community testing is on offer are asked to take a test before travelling back to university.
Universities UK, which speaks for 140 universities in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, called for further clarity from government on how they will be supported to deliver testing in the new year, “given the significant resource requirements associated with the pilots so far”.
Meanwhile, a survey of 1,000 students found that more than half are very or quite concerned about the return to university in January and more than one in five do not understand government advice on travelling home for Christmas.
The November poll by the Higher Education Policy Institute and Youthsight found almost half of students were not receiving any face-to-face teaching but almost three in five (59%) were either very satisfied or quite satisfied with their online lessons, up from 42% in June.
In a separate report, students have been urged to raise concerns about the quality of teaching or support at their university with the higher education watchdog for England, the Office for Students (OfS).
Nicola Dandridge, OfS chief executive, said: “We are aware that students have a lot of information about the quality of their experience and we want to make sure that they know how they can best inform us of issues that are relevant to our regulatory concerns.”
The OfS annual review, published on Thursday, also highlighted the impact of digital poverty on many students when studies went online because of the pandemic.

'The job market isn't totally on its knees': why there's hope for anxious graduates
Entry level jobs and internships have been cut, but experts say there are opportunities still out there for savvy graduates
Record redundancies, rising unemployment and declining job opportunities: it’s clear that the pandemic has wreaked havoc on the jobs market. Those at the beginning of their career are especially vulnerable, with entry level jobs slashed by nearly a quarter and 40% of placements and internships cancelled.
Students could perhaps be forgiven, then, for feeling gloomy about their prospects after graduating.
Mahel Khan, a final-year management student at Nottingham University and education vlogger, said he’d been disheartened after his internship at RBS was cancelled. “That gave me an idea of how times would be bleak in the future,” he said. “It won’t just be the class of 2021 which will be struggling to find a job post-Covid, but also 2022, 2023 and even 2024.”
But according to Stephen Isherwood, chief executive of the Institute of Student Employers, there is some cause for optimism. “It’s a tough job market but it’s important to remember it’s not totally on its knees. Our data shows it’s 12% down but if you flip that on its head, it means roughly 80% of pre-pandemic recruitment is happening again this year and next year – so there is positivity out there.”
Isherwood added that the picture is very different depending on the sector: retail, transport and travel have reduced graduate recruitment substantially, but professional services, including law and finance, remain similar. Public sector roles have even increased – especially alternative routes into teaching, prison jobs and policing. “It’s important everyone does their homework on this,” he said.
Khan and Isherwood’s comments came in answer to the question of how universities can help graduates survive the Covid jobs crisis, which was the subject of an online panel hosted by the Guardian and supported by Adobe.
Fellow panellist Alec Cameron, vice-chancellor of Aston University, advised current students to start thinking about employment as early as possible – even during their first year. His university is unusual in requiring all students to complete a work placement, which forces them to make contact with careers advisers and start preparing their portfolios from the moment they arrive. He added that universities should help their graduates by identifying possible employers after they leave and helping them prepare for interviews.
This work is especially important for students who lack family connections to the professional world, he said. “We have a very diverse mix of students, most of whom don’t have family who’ve gone to university. Just that experience of turning up to a professional job is not something they’ve seen in their parents. It’s not about content [for work placements], it’s about culture, practice and behaviour.”
Khan said that one of his best experiences of careers support at university was an obligatory module in his first year on professional development, which included practical skills like CV writing. He thought this was more effective than expecting students to reach out to careers services themselves. “Students might not be confident or worry that their CV’s not up to scratch, or [struggle] to admit that they just don’t know what they’re doing,” he said.
Mark Andrews, pedagogical evangelist at Adobe, added that students should focus on acquiring certain soft skills, most of which haven’t changed during the pandemic. “Employers really value communication, creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking,” he said. “That’s remained the same for the past few years but has accelerated recently.”
Tanya de Grunwald, author of How to Get a Graduate Job in a Pandemic, sought to reassure anxious graduates who didn’t start preparing early that there are still opportunities. “It’s always been normal to graduate without engaging with the careers service,” she said.
She recommended that graduates identify which jobs will be less oversubscribed rather than competing against hundreds of applicants for the most popular roles, and to focus on getting a job rather than landing their dream role. “It’s about being flexible and open-minded,” she said.
In the meantime, Isherwood suggested that students and graduates think creatively about how to gain work experience that will set them apart from other candidates. “It doesn’t have to be some gold-plated internship in a tower in Canary Wharf, it can be delivering food to people self-isolating or Christmas temp work at a supermarket. Anything that gets you out there – employers love that kind of stuff.”

« Demander une sorte d’enquête parlementaire sur ce qu’écrivent les universitaires est inédit » : les sciences sociales dans le viseur du politique
Des travaux de recherche sur le décolonialisme, la race ou le genre sont accusés de porter atteinte aux « valeurs de la République ». Deux députés LR ont réclamé, fin novembre, l’ouverture d’une mission d’information sur « les dérives idéologiques dans les milieux universitaires ».
Le pouvoir politique peut-il juger de la pertinence de recherches universitaires ? Après l’offensive, fin octobre, de Jean-Michel Blanquer contre les « ravages » de « l’islamo-gauchisme », deux députés LR, Julien Aubert et Damien Abad, sont revenus à la charge le 25 novembre, demandant au président de l’Assemblée nationale l’ouverture d’une mission d’information sur « les dérives idéologiques dans les milieux universitaires ».
Outre des « courants islamo-gauchistes puissants dans l’enseignement supérieur », ils dénoncent la « cancel culture », qui réduirait au silence « tous ceux qui portent des paroles ou un comportement jugés “offensants” », en provoquant la perturbation, voire l’annulation, de conférences, comme celle que devait donner Alain Finkielkraut à Sciences Po, en avril 2019, qu’un groupe d’étudiants se réclamant de « l’antiracisme » a contraint à reprogrammer sous surveillance policière. Ou encore celle que devait prononcer en octobre 2019 Sylviane Agacinski, annulée par l’ex-présidente de l’université Bordeaux-Montaigne sous la pression d’associations étudiantes jugeant « homophobe » la philosophe, opposée à l’ouverture de la PMA à toutes les femmes.
La tension est montée d’un cran quand, le 26 novembre, Julien Aubert a publié un Tweet alignant les captures d’écran de sept comptes Twitter d’universitaires qui s’étaient émus de l’initiative des députés. « Les coupables s’autodésignent », commentait-il. Coupables de quoi ? « De complaisance, explique l’élu du Vaucluse. Quand une tribune d’une centaine d’universitaires nous alerte sur l’emprise de l’islamisme, on ne peut pas dire qu’il n’y a rien », justifie-t-il en référence au « manifeste des 100 » signé dans Le Monde par des universitaires de renom comme Marcel Gauchet, Pierre-André Taguieff, Gilles Kepel et Pierre Nora (Le Monde des 1er et 2 novembre). Ils y dénoncent les frilosités de leurs pairs, « la plupart des universités et des associations de spécialistes universitaires » qui se bornent à parler d’« obscurantisme » ou de « fanatisme », au lieu de désigner l’islamisme comme responsable de l’assassinat du professeur Samuel Paty. Ils mettent aussi en cause les « idéologies indigénistes, racialistes et décoloniales », nourrissant une haine des « Blancs » et de la France.
Chercheur en sciences du langage à l’université Rennes-II, Albin Wagener s’alarme : « Un député a donc le droit de jeter à la vindicte populaire des noms d’enseignants. On ne jugule absolument pas les causes qui ont amené à l’assassinat de Samuel Paty ; au contraire, on les déporte ailleurs. » Pour Olivier Beaud, professeur de droit à l’université Paris-II-Panthéon-Assas, spécialiste des libertés universitaires, « demander l’ouverture d’une sorte d’enquête parlementaire sur ce qu’écrivent les universitaires ou sur leurs débats savants est inédit en France. Le seul précédent, c’était aux Etats-Unis avec le sénateur McCarthy, de sinistre mémoire ».
