Astfel, Universitatea Alexandru Ioan Cuza a primit, prin Ordinul Ministrului Educației și Cercetării (MEC) aceleași locuri ca anul trecut academic.
„Numarul de locuri este acelasi ca cel de anul trecut. Noutate este ca, la programe de master sunt alocate 50 locuri pentru cel didactic, și care este nou infiintat, pe care il va coordona prof. univ. dr. Constantin Cucos de la Facultatea de Psihologie și Științe ale Educației respectiv coordonatorul Departamentului pentru Pregătirea Personalului Didactic din Universitate. Merita apreciat ca, in tara, doar opy universitati vor avea masteratul didactic, fiecare a cate 50 de locuri”, a declarat prof, univ. dr. Tudorel Toader, rectorul Universității Cuza.

În acest context, defalcat la UAIC vor fi, pentru anul universitar 2020 – 2021 nu număr total de 3.500 locuri la programe de licenta, 2.150 la master respectiv 155 la doctorat. Asta la nivelul celor 15 facultăți ale celei mai vechi universități moderne a României

Nicu Gavriluță – fost decan al Facultăţii de Filosofie şi Ştiinţe Social-Politice din cadrul Universităţii Alexandru Ioan Cuza (UAIC) Iaşi! Ediţia a avut în prim-plan unul dintre cele mai active personaje din zona academică ieşeană, cunoscut publicist, activ profesor şi autor a numeroase lucrări de impact!
Alături de profesorul Nicu Gavriluță s-a dialogat plecând de la ceea ce am trăit, experimentat în această pandemie de COVID-19. De asemenea, s-a discutat și despre relațiile de familie, despre modul în care acestea au fost afectate de starea de izolare, despre un potențial boom al natalității peste 7-8 luni sau, de ce nu?!, despre un boom al dosarelor de divorț ce ar putea apărea peste câteva săptămâni. De reamintit că, unele dintre ultimele cărţi ale acestuia au avut ca titluri interesante precum „Globalizare şi identitate românească,” Junimea, 2018 şi „Noile religii seculare. Corectitudinea politică, tehnologiile viitorului şi transumanismul”, Polirom, 2018. Astfel, a urmat o ediție extrem de incitanta și de impact pentru noi toți și care a meritat urmărită.

Studenții de la universitățile „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” – UAIC și cea Tehnică – TUIAȘI „Gheorghe Asachi” se numără printre calificații la Campionatul European de Securitate Cibernetică. Competiția națională se desfășoară în două stadii
Studenții de la universitățile „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” (UAIC) și cea Tehnică (TUIAȘI) „Gheorghe Asachi”, printre calificații la Campionatul European de Securitate Cibernetică. Competiția națională se desfășoară în două stadii.
Prima etapă națională a Campionatului European de Securitate Cibernetică (ECSC) 2020 s-a desfășurat în perioada 9-10 mai 2020 și a avut loc exclusiv on-line. Această fază națională a ECSC 2020 a reprezentat o preselecție a candidaților pentru lotul preliminar al Team Romania, iar ca finaliști au fost selectați 31 de tineri, 15 juniori și 16 senori, pasionați de securitate cibernetică. Competiția națională se desfașoară în două stadii. După procesul inițial de preselecție on-line va urma o etapă suplimentară, în care tinerii vor fi testați în competiții de tip CTF (on-line) și, ulterior, antrenați pe parcursul unui bootcamp, prin exerciții din domeniul securității aplicațiilor web, atacului și apărării cibernetice, criptografiei, analizei traficului de rețea, reverse engineering și abilități de prezentare.
La întrecere au luat parte studenți de la universități din toată țara
La faza finală a competiției, fiecare țară participantă va fi reprezentată de o echipă formată din 10 concurenți: 5 din categoria de vârstă 16-20 de ani și 5 din categoria de vârstă 21-25 de ani. La întrecere au luat parte studenți de la universiți din toată țara și de la facultăți de profil precum cele de Informatică, respectiv Automatică și Calculatoare. Pe de altă parte, scopul acestei competiții este de a găsi și tineri talentați pentru a lucra pe segmentul IT sau securitate cibernetică.

Reîncepe activitatea bibliotecilor din Iaşi: la BCU se împrumută pentru acasă şi cărţile de la sală
Începând de luni, Biblioteca Centrală Universitară „Mihai Eminescu“ şi-a reînceput parţial activitatea, iar câteva sute de studenţi au fost deja prezenţi pentru a folosi serviciul de împrumut la domiciliu, mai ales în contextul în care cei din ani terminali sunt pe ultima sută de metri cu realizarea licenţelor sau a disertaţiilor.
La BCU s-a format o coadă încă de luni, date fiind măsurile de restricţie impuse, însă distanţarea socială s-a respectat şi toţi studenţii au purtat măşti la intrarea în instituţie. Mai mult, conducerea bibliotecii a decis ca toate cărţile care au fost împrumutate înainte de pandemie şi nu au fost returnate la timp să poată fi aduse fără a fi încasate taxe de penalizare pentru întârziere, iar o parte dintre volumele destinate doar pentru împrumutul la sala de lectură vor putea fi luate în condiţii stricte ca împrumut, mai puţin acele cărţi care figurează ca fiind „depozit legal“.
Încet-încet, activitatea mai multor biblioteci universitare din Iaşi s-a mai dezgheţat odată cu intrarea în starea de alertă. Un exemplu relevant în acest caz este al Universităţii de Ştiinţe Agricole şi Medicină Veterinară „Ion Ionescu de la Brad“, unde studenţii din anii terminali pot depune zilele acestea, până pe data de 22 ani, toate cărţile pe care le au de restituit, astfel încât să poată fi finalizată situaţia lor să îşi susţină examenele. Ei pot veni la sediul bibliotecii până la ora 15.30 până pe 22 mai. „Studenţii din ani terminali care au cărţi de restituit se vor prezenta la serviciul Împrumut – demisol. Accesul spre bibliotecă se va face pe uşa de intrare de lângă centrul de multiplicare. Listele studenţilor restanţieri vor putea fi consultate pe paginile facultăţilor de pe siteul universităţii, pe pagina de Facebook a bibliotecii sau prin telefon“, le-a transmis prof.dr. Universitatea Cambridge suspendă cursurile faţă în faţă până în vara anului viitor
Din pricina pandemiei produsă de noul coronavirus, nu vor avea loc cursuri în format clasic pentru studenţii de la Cambridge până în vara anului viitor, scrie BBC.
Cursurile vor fi însă accesibile online şi este posibil ca mici grupuri formate din studenţi şi profesori să se poată totuşi întâlni păstrând regulile de distanţare fizică, au anunţat reprezentanţii universităţii.
Campusurile universitare au fost închise ca urmare a epidemiei de Covid-19 din Marea Britanie.
Într-o declaraţie oficială, reprezentanţii universităţii au precizat că instituţia se adaptează din mers la regulile ivite în urma pandemiei. Orice decizie luată va fi reevaluată dacă situaţia o va impune, au mai spus aceştia.
Reprezentanţii Universităţii din Manchester au anunţat, la rândul lor, că nu vor fi organizate decât cursuri online în următoarea perioadă.

Very, very upsetting’: students face tough decisions over university
Many feel uncertain about quality of education they will receive under restrictions to combat coronavirus
Thousands of students due to start university in September are feeling uncertain about what to expect, with online learning and physical distancing measures likely to be in place, with one in five considering whether to defer.
Many are worried about the quality of education they will receive, and have concerns about starting life away from home under a raft of regulations aimed at reducing the spread of coronavirus.
For those studying more practical, hands-on degrees, there are questions about whether these courses can be effectively transferred online.
“With medicine, especially at York, where I’m going to study, they put a big emphasis on developing interpersonal skills with patients, and being in a medical setting from really early on,” said Amaala Malik, 19, who is starting a degree in medicine in September.
“We’re supposed to be spending some afternoons in GP clinics by week three, but I can’t really see a scenario where they let young medical students back into hospitals and clinics at the moment, and that aspect of medicine was the one I was most excited for. Hopefully by later years it’ll be something I can do again, but developing those patient skills early on is really important.”
Malik has already undertaken a gap year, so is hesitant to take another year out before starting her degree.
“Because medicine is such a long degree, the idea of taking another gap year is not something I’ve really considered,” she said. “All my friends have already begun uni, and in a way, I don’t want to be left behind.”
The shift to online teaching has led many to question whether the high tuition fees are worth the education they will receive, with some opting to defer until the following academic year.
Dominik Wojciechowski, 21, is due to start a degree in music in September, but is trying to defer. “It’s just a waste of money,” he said. “If you don’t have orchestral classes you don’t get the experience of playing in an orchestra, which would prepare you for your career, and you won’t be able to learn the repertoire and literature of music as well.”
Alongside physical distancing, the potential lack of access to facilities and equipment was also a major concern for Wojciechowski.
“As a musician, practising on a high-quality instrument is very important, and [coronavirus measures] could take away that chance. It will definitely impact the course. If all those things are taken away, what am I actually getting?”
Many students have lost part-time jobs that supported them during university, leaving them struggling to fund their education.
Throughout her degree, Amy Tetsola, a 20-year-old marketing student at the University of Leicester, has had a zero-hours contract working various jobs in the hospitality sector. Since the coronavirus pandemic, this work has stopped. Tetsola is concerned about the financial implications of undertaking study without a part-time job, and has decided to defer her final year of study.
“Since I’m going into third year, you get lower maintenance loan than the other years, and I’m not going to be getting any money from a job. If I defer, I can work alongside my final year, and hopefully save up money [in my year out].”
Like Wojciechowski, she is struggling to reconcile the high tuition fee costs with the education she will receive.
“Given my third year is the most important year of my academic career, I don’t want to compromise it by having everything delivered virtually. I’ll pay nearly £10,000 for that year, and I may have to pay full fees for online teaching. It’s not worth taking that chance,” she added. “We’re paying a lot of money to jump on a Zoom call.”
Some courses will not allow deferrals because of coronavirus, and for many students, the risk of losing the place is too great to take.
“It’s been a dream of mine for a long time to go to Cambridge, and part of me is terrified that if I was to reject the place and try again next year, it would be much more competitive because so many people will have deferred,” said Emily, who is due to start her master’s degree in September.
Emily said the loss of her dream university experience is “very, very upsetting”.
“Those opportunities for networking are incredibly important, meeting those people is a huge part of the degree,” she said. “How am I mean to make friends sat in a dorm room?”

No sex, no booze: how the move online will take all the fun out of university
Cambridge has announced online lectures for the next academic year – but you can’t virtually mimic getting blackout drunk and having a regrettable one-night stand
Name: Student life.
Age: Ongoing since the first university opened 1,161 years ago.
Appearance: People sitting around in their parents’ house, nodding at a webcam.
That doesn’t sound right. Well, times have changed.
But why? For the same reason that you’re suddenly afraid of deliverymen and haven’t worn socks for three months. It’s because of coronavirus, silly.
Explain yourself. The University of Cambridge has announced that it is going online-only for the full 2020-2021 academic year, with no face-to-face lectures, and exams being carried out virtually.
So just like the Open University. Pretty much. And what’s the point of that?
Hey, I know lots of brilliant people with Open University qualifications. I know, it’s fantastic. But nobody goes to university to learn stuff.
They don’t? Of course they don’t. They go because it means they can leave home, fend for themselves and meet new people. The life experience of university is rich and exciting – so much more valuable than whatever educational qualification you happen to get at the end.
You went before fees came in and got a 2:2, didn’t you? Busted.
I knew it. But, seriously, the effect this will have on students is going to be profound. You can’t virtually mimic the experience of Freshers’ Week. Or of using your A-level results as a conversational tactic, getting blackout drunk and having a regrettable sexual experience with someone you’ll keep bumping into for the next three years.
It’s a pity. And what about living with the catastrophic shame of being called out for napping during a lecture? What sort of monsters are we going to raise if they can just switch off their webcams and fall asleep uncontested?
Will this have an effect on admissions? Yes. One in five students plan to defer for a year, probably since there won’t be any jobs left once they have graduated anyway.
And what about student politics? Oh, this will kill it dead. Boycotting a controversial speaker is much less dramatic if it just involves muting someone’s microphone on Zoom.
So what choice do students have? Well, they want to get a useful qualification, and also undergo the world-changing social experience of student life, but Covid-19 has put an end to that, right?
Right. So the answer is clear. For the former, all prospective students should watch one of those expensive video masterclasses where Gordon Ramsay teaches you how to cook an egg properly.
And then? For the latter, they should channel their pent-up desire for experimentation into a harrowing midlife crisis when they get to about 40. The complete university experience, and no boring online lectures to sit through.
Do say: “Students can still experience university under lockdown.”
Don’t say: “But with none of the good bits. Plus it still costs £9,250 a year.”

UK universities facing £760m hit as one in five students plan to defer
Undergraduates say they will delay enrolment if classes stay online and activities are curbed
British universities face a potential £760m blow to their funding after about one in five students said they would not enrol in the next academic year if classes were delivered online and other activities curtailed.
A survey of students applying for undergraduate places found that more than 20% said they were willing to delay starting their courses if universities were not operating as normal due to the coronavirus pandemic, which would mean there would be 120,000 fewer students when the academic year begins in autumn.
The results, released by the University and College Union (UCU), come as universities are wrestling with how to reopen campuses for students while protecting them from Covid-19.
A number of universities including Cambridge have said they will conduct all lectures online throughout the 2020-21 academic year, offering “blended learning” that mixes online teaching with tutorials and in-person seminars where possible.
Based on the survey data, the consultancy London Economics estimated that about 17% of prospective UK students would not enrol in September if coronavirus restrictions remained, costing the sector £763m in lost tuition fees and teaching grants.
The National Union of Students responded by reiterating its calls for university students to get tuition fee refunds for the disruption they have suffered due to the coronavirus outbreak or be allowed to repeat the year for free.
Zamzam Ibrahim, the NUS’s president, said the union welcomed the decision by universities to prioritise student safety in the light of Covid-19 outbreaks. But she said that while next year’s students should be told what to expect in terms of online learning and campus conditions, those who had to endure this year’s disruption deserved a better deal.
“Students need clarity as to what they can expect from the next academic year in order for them to make informed choices and all staff must continue to be paid regardless of this decision,” Ibrahim said.
“The government needs to move quickly to work with the higher education sector to ensure that all students are able to receive quality education next year and have the resources they need to engage with online learning.
“Students must be given the opportunity to redo this year at no extra cost, or to have their course fees reimbursed or written off.”
Universities receive about 530,000 applications each year, of which about 30,000, or 6%, choose to defer their starts. But the UCU poll of 516 applicants conducted by YouthSight suggests twice as many could defer this year even if campuses are operating as normal.
Gavan Conlon of London Economics said: “The analysis illustrates that there continues to be a huge amount of uncertainty amongst prospective students in respect of the potential higher education offer in September.
“If the current deferral rates as a result of the pandemic are borne out, then the financial consequences facing universities will be even more severe than those identified recently. There are a lot of jobs at risk, both in universities and in the wider local and regional economies where universities are based.”
Michelle Donelan, the universities minister for England, said: “I understand that this an incredibly difficult time for students, so it is vital that universities are clear to students about how courses will be delivered in the coming year. I would urge students to think carefully about all their options and make informed decisions that best serve their futures.”
The survey also found that one in four applicants wanted to change their applications and switch institutions through the clearing process in August, which UCU said could lead to a “summer of chaos” as institutions compete to attract students.
Jo Grady, the UCU general secretary, said she hoped the “shocking” results would persuade vice-chancellors to join the union in lobbying the government for more support.
“The current wait-and-see approach from ministers is exacerbating the crisis for prospective students and putting tens of thousands of jobs at universities and in the wider economy at risk,” Grady said.
The survey asked applicants: “Suppose that the university you have applied to or received an offer from announces that it will not be operating as usual in the first term in autumn 2020, with many classes delivered online, most university activities severely restricted, and many Covid-19 social distancing restrictions still in place, to what extent would you still intend to go to university in autumn 2020?” Seventy-two per cent of respondents said they were likely to attend.
If universities were operating as usual with all classes in person and “few if any” social distancing restrictions, 13% said they would still defer starting.
Universities also face potential losses running into billions of pounds if international students stay away. A survey by Quacquarelli Symonds found that 49% of international students from China say they do not want to enrol this year if their courses begin online

La CPU réclame «des mesures de soutien pour l’emploi des jeunes diplômés» qui arriveront sur le marché du travail en septembre.
La Conférence des présidents d’université (CPU) a demandé mercredi à l’État de soutenir les jeunes diplômés qui arriveront sur le marché de l’emploi à la rentrée, lors d’une visioconférence de presse.
«Il est extrêmement important qu’il y ait des mesures de soutien pour l’emploi des jeunes diplômés qui vont arriver sur le marché du travail à la rentrée 2020», afin que cette génération ne soit pas «sacrifiée», a déclaré le président de la CPU Gilles Roussel.
Les examens se déroulent «correctement»
Il a souligné «la nécessité que les entreprises puissent continuer à accueillir des étudiants en apprentissage», ainsi que des stagiaires. Pendant le confinement, «la communauté universitaire a répondu présente de façon assez active, on a réussi à s’adapter», a-t-il indiqué. Les examens se déroulent «correctement, que ce soit en distanciel ou avec différentes modalités de mise en œuvre», a-t-il estimé.
Pour la prochaine rentrée universitaire, «on est en train de réfléchir à différents scenarii, qui combinent présentiel et distanciel», a-t-il indiqué. «Les modalités de mise en œuvre de ces nouveaux plans vont beaucoup dépendre des sites, des disciplines (…) ou des niveaux de formation», a-t-il ajouté, car «dans les premières années on a vraiment besoin d’avoir un lien beaucoup plus fort avec les étudiants».
Le taux de réussite à la fac affecté?
À la question de savoir si la crise était susceptible d’affecter le taux de réussite à l’université cette année, Christine Gangloff-Ziegler, vice-présidente de la CPU, a rétorqué: «ce n’est qu’une partie du second semestre qui n’a pas pu se faire dans le cadre du confinement».
Le vrai risque est de connaître un taux de décrochage plus important l’année prochaine, si jamais on se trouve «dans un scénario où on commence dès le début de l’année avec une dimension hybridée ou fortement à distance», a estimé Olivier Laboux, vice-président de la CPU.

L‘université de Cambridge va donner tous ses cours en ligne jusqu’à la fin de la prochaine année universitaire, à l’été 2021, en raison de la pandémie de Covid-19, a annoncé un porte-parole.
«L’université s’adapte constamment aux recommandations qui évoluent», a déclaré un porte-parole, «étant donné que la distanciation sociale continuera à être nécessaire, l’université a décidé qu’il n’y aurait plus de cours en face-à-face lors de la prochaine année universitaire».
Quelques cours en présentiel?
En raison de la pandémie, tous les enseignements de l’université, qui compte environ 20.000 étudiants, se font en ligne depuis le mois de mars. Il en va de même pour les examens. Il sera toutefois possible que certains cours se fassent physiquement en «petits groupes», à condition que les mesures de distanciation puissent être mises en place, a précisé le porte-parole.
Cette annonce intervient en pleine polémique au Royaume-Uni sur la réouverture d’une partie des écoles envisagée à partir du 1er juin, contestée par nombre de collectivités locales.
