Proiect de peste 125 milioane lei depus de USV Iași spre finanțare, prin PNRR

Universitatea de Științele Vieții „Ion Ionescu de la Brad” din Iași (USV), în calitate de lider al consorțiului pentru învățământ dual AGRITECH, a depus spre finanțare prin Planul Național de Redresare și Reziliență (PNRR) – Componenta 15 – Educație, proiectul „CONSTRUIRE INFRASTRUCTURĂ PENTRU ÎNVĂȚĂMÂNT DUAL – AGRITECH”. În cadrul acestui consortium, principalul partener este Universitatea Tehnică „Gheorghe Asachi” din Iași coordonată de Prof. univ. dr. ing. Dan Cașcaval, rector. Entitatea politehnistă  va avea la rândul ei laboratoare, activități legate de revigorarea învățământului dual.

Prin crearea campusului profesional integrat USV Iași va răspunde uneia dintre cele mai mari provocări ale mediului economic: crearea unei rute profesionale complete pentru învățământul tehnic preuniversitar și universitar. Campusul va fi construit la Ezăreni, în comuna Miroslava, județul Iași, pe terenul pus la dispoziția proiectului de către USV Iași.

Activitățile propuse prin proiect contribuie la creșterea calității și relevanței educației tehnice și inginerești, prin dezvoltarea unor programe de formare și specializare pentru elevi, studenți și cadre didactice. Dezvoltarea rutei duale este deosebit de importantă pentru Regiunea de Dezvoltare Nord – Est deoarece va contribui la creșterea nivelului de educație, la dezvoltarea economică și va oferi oportunități educaționale și de carieră pentru tinerii din regiune, reducând astfel migrația și contribuind la dezvoltarea durabilă

„În condițiile creșterii intensității de utilizare a tehnologiei în multe activități economice, astfel de programe devin necesare pentru a asigura o mai bună corespondență între oferta de formare și economia reală, precum și pentru a asigura formarea practică pentru calificări avansate. Legăturile cu mediul economic și social vor deveni mai puternice prin investițiile în construcția campusului integrat pentru învățământul profesional și tehnic, prin accesul la o educație bazată pe inovare, creativitate și specializare inteligentă. Investițiile vor ajuta, de asemenea, firmele partenere și universitatea să își consolideze cadrele de formare profesională, precum și să ajute partenerii să își valorifice la maximum resursele. Viitorii lucrători, absolvenți sau persoane recalificate vor sprijini ecosistemele industriale regionale cu competențe aplicabile la tendințele în schimbare ale pieței muncii”, a declarat prof. univ. dr. Gerard Jităreanu, rectorul USV Iași

Investiția totală pentru acest proiect depășește 125 milioane lei, va fi finanțată prin PNRR și face parte din portofoliul Centrului de Management Proiecte Majore din cadrul USV Iași

Vizită a unui expert al guvernului SUA, departamentul pentru agricultură, la USV Iași

Universitatea de Științele Vieții „Ion Ionescu de la Brad” din Iași (USV) găzduiește, mâine, 24 februarie 2023, workshopul cu tema Utilizarea cânepii industriale în lume și în România.

Manifestarea îl va avea ca invitat, în calitate de speaker, pe Herrick Fox, expert al guvernului SUA, departamentul pentru agricultură, reprezentant al USDA TASC, președinte al Institutului Meristem, care va relata despre misiunea sa în Europa de Est și mai ales despre perspectiva sa asupra sectorului de cânepă industrială.

Evenimentul va avea loc la USV Iași, în sala A83 – Laborator de mentorat Antreprenorial, etaj 1, începând cu ora 10:00. Dintre partenerii invitați și implicați în organizarea workshop-ului amintim membrii Clusterului Caneparo din care face parte și USV Iași, de doi ani, Universitatea Tehnică „Gh. Asachi” din Iași, agenți economici și Asociația Națională Caneparo România.

 TUIASI, singura universitate din țară care a participat la un eveniment european destinat cercetării postdoctorale

Universitatea Tehnică „Gheorghe Asachi” din Iași (TUIASI) este singura instituție de învățământ superior din România care a fost invitată la prima întâlnire din cadrul evenimentului PEER Group postdoctoral studies, organizat de Consiliul EUA pentru Educație Doctorală.

Întâlnirea „2023 EUA-CDE Thematic Peer Group on «Profiles and institutional support for postdoctoral researchers»” a avut loc în perioada 15 – 19 februarie 2023, în Austria, la Universitatea din Viena, iar din partea universității a participat prof. univ. dr. ing. Alina Adriana Minea, director al Consiliului Studiilor Universitare de Doctorat (CSUD). Detaliile despre eveniment, așa cum este prezentat de organizatori, pot fi consultate pe siteul Consiliului EUA, la linkul următor.

La întâlnire au participat reprezentanţi ai universităţilor din Italia, Belgia, Elveţia, Portugalia, Germania, Cehia, Irlanda, Spania, Austria, UK, Macedonia de nord, Lituania, Finlanda, Polonia, Olanda și România.

Grupurile tematice (TPG) organizate de Consiliul EUA pentru Educație Doctorală oferă universităților membre participante oportunități de învățare reciprocă pe teme selectate şi contribuie la crearea unei baze comune de cunoștințe privind structurile, politicile și practicile de educație doctorală din Europa.

„Grupul tematic EUA-CDE 2023 este dedicat profilurilor și sprijinului instituțional pentru cercetătorii postdoctorali. Scopul acestui grup tematic este de a discuta poziția și statutul cercetătorilor postdoctorali din universitățile europene, de a reflecta asupra sprijinului existent pentru comunitatea postdoctorală și de a dezvolta și îmbunătăți noi strategii și activități pentru a crea un mediu mai adecvat și oportunități pentru această categorie de cercetători”, a declarat prof. univ. dr. ing. Alina Adriana Minea.

Timp de trei zile, membrii acestui grup tematic au avut posibilitatea de a împărtăși experiența lor în abordarea cercetării postdoctorale, de a dezbate cele mai presante probleme și provocări cu care se confruntă și de a crea recomandări cu privire la modul în care universitățile pot îmbunătăți calitatea perioadei postdoctorale.

SURSE Proiectele de legi ale educației vor fi prezentate luni de ministra Educației, Ligia Deca, într-o conferință de presă

Proiectele de legi ale educației în varianta consolidată vor fi prezentate luni de ministra Educației, Ligia Deca, într-o conferință de presă, conform surselor Edupedu.ro. Este vorba despre prezentarea proiectelor legii învățământului preuniversitar și legii învățământului universitar.

Decizia vine după întâlnirea de joi, din coaliție, cu liderii PDS, PNL și UDMR.

Conferința ar urma să fie anunțată vineri, 24 februarie, mai arată sursele.

Miercuri, la Romexpo, Ligia Deca a declarat că un nou calendar referitor la legile educației, va fi anunțat „imediat după ședința coaliției din această săptămână”.

Întrebată dacă proiectele vor fi puse în transparență, aceasta a spus că „sigur, vor fi făcute publice”.

Register of staff-student relations proposed for England campuses

 Staff in undeclared relationships involving romance, sex or financial dependency liable for dismissal under regulator’s plans

Universities and colleges in England should require “personal relationships” between staff and students to be declared, with staff who keep relationships secret liable to be disciplined or dismissed, according to new proposals announced by the higher education regulator.

The Office for Students (OfS) also wants all students and staff in England to undergo mandatory training on sexual harassment and misconduct.

The new policy, published in a consultation document, would mean that staff would have to register details of relationships involving “isolated or repeated” physical or romantic intimacy, or financial dependency, with students whom they teach or oversee. Any staff member in an undeclared relationship “should be liable for dismissal”, the OfS said.

While a small number of institutions have banned staff-student relationships, the new policies would be a major shift for the sector and a victory for groups who have lobbied for universities and colleges to do more to fight sexual misconduct on campus.

The OfS said the creation of relationship registers was its preferred option, rather than outright bans, arguing that registers would effectively stop staff from establishing sexual relationships with students for whom they were responsible.

“This option would not prohibit relationships, but we consider that it would and should have the effect of providers expressly discouraging them,” the OfS said, adding that it was willing to consider outright bans as part of its consultation.

Susan Lapworth, the chief executive of the OfS, said the new policies were required because universities and colleges had failed to self-regulate despite the “profound and sometimes devastating” impact that sexual misconduct and harassment can have on students.

“Some universities are already doing excellent work in this area, but we know that progress across the sector has been too slow and too patchy,” Lapworth said.

The new rules would require each institution to publish a simple document explaining the steps it takes to protect students from harassment and sexual misconduct, as well as arrangements for handling incidents and the support it provided to those involved.

The use of non-disclosure agreements, which prohibit participants from making public comment as part of a legal settlement, would also be banned.

Institutions that failed to adopt the new policies would face a range of sanctions by the OfS as part of their conditions of registration, including being fined, stripped of access to loan funding for students, or ultimately being deregistered as a higher education provider.

The National Union of Students (NUS) welcomed the move to ban non-disclosure agreements but said there was still not enough support for students who experienced sexual misconduct by staff.

“Students who experience misconduct from staff members may be reluctant to report for fear of retribution that could impact their grades,” the NUS said.

Universities UK, which represents vice-chancellors in higher education, said its members took harassment and sexual misconduct “extremely seriously … However, we recognise that there is still work to be done.”

Lapworth said: “The majority of those working in higher education behave appropriately towards their students. But we recognise that there can be a power imbalance in personal relationships that could be exploited by unscrupulous staff to subject students to harassment or sexual misconduct.

“That’s why we’re proposing that certain types of personal relationships should be disclosed, with staff dismissed if they fail to do so.”

Warwick student with cancer wins payout after university denied extension request

 University accepts it did not make adjustments for her illness as a form of disability

Warwick University has agreed to pay a student who is seriously ill with cancer £12,000 in damages for the “distress and inconvenience” caused by not allowing her to extend her course as a result of her health condition.

Riham Sheble, an international postgraduate film and television studies student at Warwick was diagnosed with uterine sarcoma – a rare and aggressive form of cancer – in February 2021.

Her payout has been hailed as a significant victory for overseas students with disabilities in the UK by Unis Resist Border Controls (URBC)) and Warwick University and College Union who fought for her to be allowed to extend her study period.

The university has acknowledged that its handling of her extension of studies request submitted in April 2022 did not adequately provide reasonable adjustments for her cancer as a form of disability and after a-seven month battle has agreed to pay her the sum.

Sheble, who is Egyptian, welcomed the settlement of her case. “University of Warwick’s initial decision denying me an extension of study period was completely unnecessary,” she said. “These battles were imposed on me at a time when I was contending with death and at war with my own body. I was forced to fight on so many fronts. It was exhausting. More importantly it was utterly unjust.”

She was also contending with an initial decision by the Home Office to reject her mother’s application for a visa to visit her. But that decision was reversed after a campaign by more than 200 University of Warwick staff and students with support from Birmingham Ladywood MP, Shabana Mahmood.

“There came a point when I didn’t think I was going to see my mother before dying. It was a frightening thought,” said Sheble.

A spokesperson for Warwick UCU said: “We are delighted with this outcome and will continue pushing the university to honour their commitments. No university should deprive any student with a disability or a chronic health condition of their education.”

Warwick said: “A formal investigation was carried out into a complaint made by a student relating to how the university had processed a request for an extension to her period of registration.

“That investigation found that we could have shown greater flexibility in this case. We accepted this conclusion and recognised we had got this wrong – and then worked to put it right.

“A decision to reject a further extension to her period of registration was reversed. And we wrote to the Home Office on the student’s behalf asking for her mother to be allowed to come into the UK to support her, which was successful.

“We also felt it was the right thing to do to make a payment to the student rather than contest it through a potentially lengthy complaints process, given the unique circumstances involved in this case.

“We’re sorry for the way the student was made to feel through this process, which came during a very difficult and challenging time for her. We have sent a letter to her to offer our sincere apologies.”
